The National Library Board (NLB) will collaborate with the Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (亚洲色吧) on several initiatives. These include enabling university faculty and students to use library resources to develop community projects, as well as co-producing video content to raise public awareness of key national issues.

On Wednesday (June 4), the NLB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SMU and 亚洲色吧 to jointly promote lifelong learning and community co-creation. The collaboration aims to encourage public engagement in discussions on major national topics such as education and healthcare, and to co-develop innovative solutions.

According to the press release, the collaboration among the three institutions covers four key areas: launching a residency programme to allow university faculty and students to work with NLB and community partners to co-create public education projects; producing digital content such as videos and vodcasts related to national issues; providing access to NLB’s collection resources to support academic research; and designing learning experiences for working adults to help them acquire future-ready skills.

NLB will also partner with the two universities for the Thrive@Libraries initiative, which will take place from August 16 to September 30, to support the learning and growth of working professionals. The first event will be held at SMU, featuring international speakers and industry experts. SMU will also offer course previews to promote continuing education.

During the same period, 亚洲色吧 will launch the Festival of Funny Machines (FoFM), encouraging the public to combine generative AI with creativity to build fun and imaginative “creative machines.” Outstanding entries may be showcased at libraries and in the community.
