Intimacy in Design: Ling Hao/ Chang Yong Ter
Abstract
Chang Yong-Ter (Chang Architects) and Ling Hao (Linghao Architects) create homes that appear to be intimately adapted to their inhabitants鈥 lives. The house is like a bespoke object, designed to make space for daily rituals and interactions. This is quite contrary to the stereotype of the architect, who imposes his or her own beliefs, interests, and aesthetic preferences on the project. How then, does the sensitive architects project himself into the lives of the inhabitant, without being intrusive? When鈥攊f ever鈥攄oes the desire of the architect come into conflict with the habitus of the client?
